The 2011 Air Force Assistance Fund campaign closed with a total of $43,402 donated by Team Vance members, said Capt. Todd Gibbs, the campaign project officer. "We smashed our goal, contributing 132 percent of the Wing target."

Vance also had an excellent participation rate, with more than 46 percent of those eligible contributing to the AFAF campaign, said Captain Gibbs.

"It was wonderful to see such a great turn out, especially with today's struggling economy," said 1st Lt. Matt Zenishek, Vance's AFAF campaign assistant project officer. "Team Vance made a statement -- the foundation of the Air Force has and always will be, taking care of your Wingman with a commitment for caring," he said.

More than 30 volunteers from across Vance served as key workers during the 2011 campaign, which ran from Feb. 7 through March 18. According to Captain Gibbs, the key workers' time and effort was critical to Vance's AFAF campaign success this year.

The annual Air Force wide AFAF campaign raises funds for four great charities; the Air Force Enlisted Village, the Air Force Village, the LeMay Foundation, and the mostly widely recognized, the Air Force Aid Society. All of these charities focus on taking care of the Air Force family.
