AETC team to audit Vance’s environmental, safety compliance Published March 21, 2011 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- An inspection team from Headquarters, Air Education and Training Command will be at Vance March 28 through April 1 to look at the base's compliance with the Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Compliance Assessment and Management Program. The inspection will focus on Vance's overall compliance with environmental, safety and occupational health laws or regulations and conformance with Department of Defense, Air Force or installation instructions, policies, and other requirements. The assessment will cover all base organizations, tenants, and contractor operations. ESOHCAMP is designed to help installation commanders assess performance of their environmental, safety and occupational health programs and to identify and track solutions to compliance and conformance deficiencies. The goal is to ensure performance is effective to sustain and enhance mission capability. The AETC team also assesses Vance's implementation of the Air Force Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health System. The Vance EMS is a comprehensive system of programs, and procedures intended to manage the environmental risks and impacts created by the various processes on base. While preparing for the inspection, Team Vance members should look around their areas for hazardous materials and properly dispose of them. Products that can safely be used are those general housekeeping items that can be found at typical retail stores and are then used for intended purposes. Products that violate environmental and safety guidelines are generally those marked "for industrial and commercial use only." For more information, call 213-6279.
