A&FRC accepting nominations for Volunteer Excellence Award Published March 9, 2011 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- If you know someone who volunteers their time to local or on-base organizations, now is the time to nominate them for the Air Force Volunteer Excellence Award, according to Terri Presa with the Vance Airman & Family Readiness Center. The award will be presented April 14 during an ice cream social scheduled at Eisenhower Elementary School on base. An award, authorized by the Air Force chief of staff, is open to nominees who are federal civilians, family members, military retirees and federal retirees who perform outstanding volunteer community service. "Volunteers must be nominated by their supervisor or the agency where they volunteer," said Ms. Presa. The volunteer service must be sustained and direct in nature. "For example, being a Family Service volunteer or a Boy or Girl Scouts leader," she said. Nominees cannot be active duty military or contract partners at Vance. The period for consideration is April 2010 to April 2011. Nomination forms are available for pick up at the A&FRC or by contacting Ms. Presa at 213-7120.
