By As Vance enters another year of operations it is important to emphasize the need to recycle properly. The Vance Recycling Center collects and recycles four types of materials. Here's how to help them get the job done right.

Cardboard
Do recycle any cardboard boxes, brown paper bags and even cereal boxes in the cardboard recycle bin. Moving boxes can be given out to anyone who needs them. Remove any packing materials from cardboard boxes before recycling them.

Don't
recycle paper, packing materials or anything that is not a cardboard product in the cardboard recycling bin.

Paper
Do recycle all paper products regardless of whether it has been printed on or not. Pay attention to the recycle bin labels. Magazines and books can be recycled in the paper bin even with the staples and sticky notes still attached. Recycling white paper provides the most cost savings to the Air Force.

Don't
recycle cardboard or plastic products in the paper container. Don't throw away paper since it can almost always be recycled. If the bin is overflowing call the Recycling Center to arrange an out-of-cycle pick up.

Plastic
Do recycle all plastic items. Ensure that all of the plastic items are empty prior to recycling them.

Don't
recycle dip-spit cups, plastic bags or any other plastic container still containing liquid. Either empty out the container or throw it away.

Miscellaneous
Do recycle items such as aluminum, wood pallets and 55-gallon drums.

Don't
recycle any electronics, Styrofoam, glass or liquids.

Recycling is an important part of cost saving and maintaining a healthy environment. However, materials that are improperly recycled must be thrown away. The Recycling Center offers tours to any Team Vance member or family member who would like to see how the collected materials are processed.
