Student pilots waiting for their training to begin at Vance AFB volunteered in the classrooms of Taft Elementary school in Enid Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The volunteers offered their services by helping students with their math skills, making classroom decorations and listening to students read stories aloud.
"I really enjoy helping the younger kids with their classroom skills," said 2nd Lt. Laura Dempster, one of the volunteers. "It's great to be helping the community."

The teachers and students at Taft were very appreciative of the help. "The kids absolutely love it when the volunteers come in," said Beth Culver, a 3rd-grade teacher at Taft Elementary
School. "It's really great to see such positive role models for the kids."

The volunteers who work at the school for two hours once a week plan to continue their service into the near future.
