Housing survey going out to Landings residents

The Landings at Vance housing community will send out their third annual survey to residents Friday, Oct. 1, to assess how well they are doing the job of providing quality housing, said Kent Davis, the community director.

"The survey is an important feedback tool to see how well we are handling management, maintenance, service, landscaping and more," said Mr. Davis.

The survey will be delivered to all the homes and families in the Landings, along with a postage-paid return envelope that can be dropped in a mailbox or turned in at the Landings office.

"Residents dropping their survey by the office can enter in a drawing for prizes," said Mr. Davis.

"Feedback from the surveys is essential to making future improvements relevant to the residents at the Landings," said Mr. Davis. Completing the survey should take about 10 minutes, he said.

A return rate of between 20 and 25 percent is typical for a survey. The Landings management is hoping for a rate similar to or exceeding last year's 67 percent. "To receive an accurate understanding of what our residents think and need, a return rate of 75 to 80 percent is important," Mr. Davis said.

According to Mr. Davis, this past year has been very challenging for the residents at the Landings. There was far more construction and demolition going on, which, in many cases disturbed the quality of life and required many families to relocate.

But a lot was accomplished during that same period. "We completed almost 138 home renovations and will complete all 158 by Oct. 15. We completed construction of 30 new homes and demolished 18 old structures," said Mr. Davis.

The installation of utility meters at each residence is ongoing to allow for improved utility cost management and conservation.

The results of last year's survey showed residents wanted improvements in communications, landscaping and work-order follow-up. The Landings team responded to those wants.

"We developed a three-part resident work order follow-up process, enhanced the website, introduced a Facebook page, added a phone messaging service and hired a new landscaping contractor," said Mr. Davis.
