IPs beat out CGOs, NCOs for softball championship

The Instructor Pilots softball team won the championship game with 10 runs during the Focus 5/6 Second Annual Senior Leadership Softball Classic, held Friday, Aug. 6, at Vance's softball field.

The IPs beat out the Company Grade Officers and the Noncommissioned Officers teams to win the championship.

There were three playoff games, the championship game and two consolation games played during the classic. Each team fielded five-players, with a team in the outfield, a team in the infield and a team at bat. When three outs or 10 runs were completed, the teams rotated positions.

The first game pitted the Senior Leadership team against the Squadron Commanders and the CGOs. The junior officers won with 16 runs.

The second game featured the NCO, Senior NCO and Airmen teams, with the NCOs scoring 5 runs to win.

In the third round, the IPs fought to an 8-run win against the Chiefs & Shirts and the Students teams.

The championship game score was: IPs -- 10, Company Grade Officers --5, NCOs -- 0.
