Senior Airman Kaitlyn Eaton will run in the women's half-marathon at the Air Force Marathon, Sept. 18, at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. She is representing the Air Education and Training Command. "I was stoked when I heard I was selected for the team," she said.

One of 12 AETC Airmen selected for the command team, Airman Eaton has come a long way since almost failing her physical training test last year.

Assigned to the 71st Medical Operations Squadron's Aerospace Physiology Flight, she said her training for the Air Force half-marathon, a 13.1 mile run, will include both distance and speed training, with more sprints and intervals.

"I'm looking for a training partner," the young runner said.

"I feel like I'm ready now," said Airman Eaton. "I just want to do better than my last run."

Her most recent competition was the Red Dirt Run of Honor held May 29 at Woodring Regional Airport in Enid. Airman Eaton completed that half-marathon in 1 hour and 43 minutes.

She competed in the Oklahoma City Memorial marathon April 25, completing the half-marathon in 1 hour, 45 minutes and 52 seconds.

"My goal for the Air Force half-marathon is 1 hour and 30-something minutes," Airman Eaton said.

She will arrive at Wright-Patterson AFB on Sept. 17, the evening before the run. "I'll load up on pasta the night before, and have a bagel with peanut butter the morning of the run," she said.
