Among the activities available to Vance AFB youth this summer is the Total Dance Experience Camp, scheduled from Aug. 2 to 6 at the Youth Center gym, Bldg. 323.

Two class sessions are scheduled for different age groups. Youth ages 8-12 will meet from 9 a.m. to noon. Teens ages 13-18 will meet from 1 to 4 p.m.

The camp teaches a wide variety of dancing styles, including hip hop, swing, salsa, two-step and ballroom. The week culminates in a recital for the dancers' families and friends.

No previous dancing experience is necessary. Novices and experts alike are welcome. This is the first year Vance AFB will host the camp.

The Total Dance Experience Camp is an Air Force wide program that encourages youth to be active and exercise while still having fun and trying something new. Interspersed throughout the classes are talks on the different types of dances and careers involving dance.

The camp also offers a chance for kids to interact with each other, make new friends and learn the importance of teamwork.

Priority will be given to youth with a deployed parent. The maximum number of attendees will be 30 per session.

The dance camp is part of the Year of the Air Force Family, FitFamily and the Fit Factor programs.
