The Air Force's chief of chaplains, Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) Cecil Richardson, will be the guest speaker at the Commander's National Prayer Breakfast scheduled for 7:30 a.m., Jan. 28, at the Vance Collocated Club. All Team Vance members are invited.

The breakfast menu will include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, hash browns and a fresh fruit cup. A buffet table with kosher and halal food will also be provided. The cost is $5 per person and can be paid by e-invitation. People may also pay in cash by appointment with Staff Sgt. Jon Carpenter at 213-7211.

General Richardson began his Air Force career as an enlisted radio intercept operator and Russian interpreter. As chief of chaplains, he is the senior pastor for more than 800,000 active-duty, National Guard, reserve, and civilian forces serving in the United States and overseas.

He leads an Air Force Chaplain Service of approximately 2,200 chaplains and chaplain assistants from the active and Air Reserve components. As a member of the Armed Forces Chaplains Board, he and other members advise the secretary of defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff on religious, ethical and quality-of-life concerns.
