Just in time for everyone's favorite New Year's resolution, Vance AFB kicks off the 2010 Biggest Loser competition on Jan. 11.

"The program's new focus will be on enforcing a healthy lifestyle, not just weight loss," said Kellie Jensen, fitness program manager. "The program is a great opportunity for people looking to lose weight and live healthier. Some people lose more than 20 pounds and keep it off."

Vance's Health and Wellness Center will be revamping the program, adding more education classes specifically tailored to losing weight and obtaining a healthy lifestyle.

With a spotlight on healthy lifestyles, this year's program will give t-shirts to winners of the Biggest Loser Extreme point system, in addition to prizes for teams with the highest percentage of weight lost. Participants will gain points for exercising, drinking water, eating fruits and vegetables and signing up with Enid's online weight loss program, E-lose It.

Even though the Biggest Loser competition ends in April, the Fitness Center will have a follow up program this summer to encourage participants to keep the weight off or even keep losing weight.

The competition is open to active duty, dependents, contractors, reservists, retirees and Department of Defense civilians. Members interested in entering Vance's Biggest Loser competition may contact the HAWC at 213-7968 or go to the HAWC Monday, Jan. 11, anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
