Vance superintendent wins AFRC award Published Jan. 6, 2010 By 2nd Lt. Christopher Carrillo 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Senior Master Sgt. Wayne E. Andersen, 5th Flying Training Squadron superintendant, is the Air Force Reserve Command Resource Advisor of the year. He was selected from among 35 other resource advisors for the award. Sergeant Anderson has spent 25 years in the Air Force. He is currently responsible for all information management functions for the 5th FTS. He is also responsible for overseeing and managing the commander's support staff daily operations. "Sergeant Andersen is an outstanding resource advisor. He managed the squadron's $3.4 million annual budget with a 98 percent execution rate," said Lt. Col. Paul Tom, the 5th FTS commander. "At the beginning of the year, we lay out our budget," said Sergeant Anderson. "About midway into the year, we review our budget and our operations and make sure we are on track. Last year we saw we were going to be about $54,000 short. We got all the paperwork sent up by the end of the year to keep our operations running smoothly." Sergeant Andersen participates with Enid chapters for Habitat for Humanity and Christmas in Action and has donated over 60 units of blood to the Oklahoma Blood Institute. He has also coached youth baseball and softball for more than 5 years.
