Mission contributions:  As a new flight unit standardization and evaluation monitor, Lieutenant Hamblen went through the weekly test topics for the students and updated more than 60 references to current publications. Students now know exactly what to study and where to look up information. He revamped the 15-day program's stand-up briefs and flight discussion topics to align them with new publications. Lieutenant Hamblen represented the 71st Flying Training Wing at the McEntire Joint National Guard Base, S.C., airshow. He managed thunderstorms, icing and three plus hours of instrument conditions to accomplish mission. During the recent Vance Mid-Air Collision Avoidance Fly-In, Lieutenant Hamblen used his prior line-cook experience to lead a team to prepare eggs, waffles, pancakes and bacon that served more than 200 guests.
