The team of Vance junior enlisted beat the senior leadership team, 9 to 5, during the Focus 5/6 Softball Challenge, Sept. 25, which raised $650 for the "Friends of Vance Families," a local Combined Federal Campaign organization.

The Focus 5/6, a Vance service organization made up of staff and technical sergeants, raised money through refreshment sales and a pie-in-the-face auction immediately following the softball game.

"We had an excellent turn-out, great crowd participation and we raised more than $1,300," said Tech. Sgt. Nina Sellers, the Focus 5/6 president.

"Focus 5/6 will donate $650 to the Friends of Vance Families," she said, "a great way to kick off the 2009 CFC campaign."

Friends of Vance Families is a source of financial support for family programs conducted by the Airman & Family Readiness Center at Vance.

Spectators bid on pies to throw in the faces of the softball players. The highest bids were $300 for the pie thrown at Col. Chris Nowland, 71st Flying Training Wing commander, and $300 for the one that hit Staff Sgt. Omar Robinson, executive to the 71st FTW command chief.
