Warrior of the Week – Staff Sgt. John Snyder

  • Published

Name:  Staff Sgt. John Snyder

Duty:  Wing Exercise Evaluation Team deputy chief

Hometown:  Fort Wayne, Ind.

Favorite PT regimen:  Calisthenics

Mission contributions:  Sergeant Snyder just returned from Guyana (South America) where he augmented Hill AFB, Utah, and contributed to the care of 675 dental patients in 10 days -- the most patients seen by any of the three previous dental team deployments. He worked in the oral surgery section and saw eight to 10 patients a day. When the unit exhausted its supply of surgical suction with four days to go, Sergeant Snyder fabricated his own using items that were on hand. His efforts prevented a possible work stoppage and a denial of care to the less fortunate. When he was finished with oral surgery patients, he stepped up and cleaned teeth and took over for others so they could get a much needed break. He was voted by his peers and the theater squadron commander a "superior" performer receiving coins for outstanding efforts.
