Immunizations a must for school Published Aug. 5, 2009 By Danielle Lutes 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Buying school supplies is usually on the top of back-to-school checklists, but what about immunizations? Making sure your child is vaccinated is an important part of getting ready for school. Not only do immunizations keep your child safe, but schools also require them. Oklahoma has statewide immunization requirements, including polio, varicella (chicken pox), and Hepatitis B and A. To view the chart of required immunizations, visit http://www.enidpublicschools.org/admin/health/index.html and click on the immunization chart link. The Base Clinic offers free immunizations for I.D. card holders on a walk-in basis, no appointment needed. The clinic is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and closed for lunch from 12 a.m. to 1 p.m. On the second and third Thursdays of each month, the Clinic closes at 2 p.m. for training. For more information, call the Clinic appointment desk at 213-7416. "It is important for parents to have up-to-date shot records of their children on hand," said Tech. Sgt. Leslie Daigle, the NCO in charge for the immunization clinic, in case any shots have not been recorded electronically. Capt. (Dr.) Peter Pellegrino, 71st Medical Group pediatrician, is available to talk about immunizations. To make an appointment, call the Clinic appointment desk at 213-7416.
