Back-to-school parties offer a fun end to summer Published Aug. 5, 2009 By Danielle Lutes 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Going back to school marks the end of summer vacation-- no more sleeping in late or swimming all day long. Back-to-school parties can make going back to school a fun experience. There will be a Back to School Bash at the Landings at Vance housing office on 1386 Lehr Street from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 7. Moon Jumps, water slides and carnival games will be there. Totes full of school supplies will be given out to help with the upcoming new school year. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be served. The event is free for all who would like to attend. The Vance Collocated Club is hosting a back-to-school party from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11. Meal cost is $5 for Club members, $9.95 for non-members and free for children 12 and under. There will be a clown creating balloon animals. Raffle tickets will be given out at the door for a variety of prizes including two backpacks with school supplies and smaller goodie bags with supplies. The menu for the party is kid-friendly food-- corn dogs, tater tots, corn on the cob, 1/4 pound burgers, mac 'n' cheese, cookies and ice cream. For more information, call the Club at 213-7595.
