While celebrating the Fourth of July, keep in mind that no fireworks, including sparklers, are allowed on base or in the Enid city limits, according to Randy Hakman, Vance's Ground Safety manager.

According to Security Forces, if you are caught on base with fireworks, they will be confiscated.

In Enid, it is prohibited to sell, possess, use or distribute fireworks, according to the Enid Fire Department. If you want to set off your own fireworks, you will have to leave the city limits to do so, and even then, do so with caution, Mr. Hakman recommended.

There are three public fireworks displays scheduled in the local area: July 3 at the David Allen Memorial Ballpark after the game, July 4 at Meadowlake Park with the Enid Symphony at dusk and July 4 at the Garfield County Fairgrounds Speedway after the races.

For more information about the show at David Allen Memorial Ballpark, call 548-0396. For more information about the show at Meadowlake Park, call the Symphony Office at 237-9646. Call 234-4488 for information about the races at Garfield County Fairgrounds Speedway.
