Central National Bank branch on base closing Jan. 31 Published Oct. 28, 2008 By Maj. John J. Ryan 71st Comptroller-Contracting Squadron commander VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The Central National Bank of Enid branch on base is closing effective Jan. 31. The ATM will be removed from the banking facility in late October. The banking facility will remain open and operational through Dec. 31, at which time it will be closed for customer service. The bank facility was bought and paid for by Central National Bank of Enid, and constructed by a local contractor in 1986. The bank operated under a land-lease agreement that stipulated the structures and other improvements erected on the land would be conveyed to the government upon termination of the lease agreement. The bank has been at Vance AFB since 1952. Back then they were co-located with the Tinker Federal Credit Union in an old Air Force building According to Bonnie R. Henderson, executive vice president of Central National Bank of Enid, "We have loved our relationship with Vance AFB and its many military members and civilians, and we hope to continue serving our great customers in the future. "The banking business has undergone dramatic changes since 1986, with more and more individuals now banking electronically," said Ms. Henderson. "Unfortunately, we had to make the business decision to close this facility because it's not economically viable for us to continue to keep it open," she said. "We feel that our three banking locations along with nine ATMs in Enid will make it easy for our valued customers to continue banking with us." Vance AFB officials are currently reviewing options for the building after the base branch closes early next year.
