Celebrating Halloween -- inside and outside the gate

Halloween, the night ghouls, goblins, princesses and a number of Star Wars characters roam the streets of Vance, will be celebrated in a lot of places with a variety of activities. 

The Bowling Center is offering Boo Bowling and a costume contest Friday, Oct. 31. There will be goodie bags, Halloween music and prizes. Glow Bowl will be offered during Boo Bowling for $2 per hour, with up to six bowlers per lane. Boo Bowling for children will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., with adult Boo Bowling beginning at 6:30 p.m. Costume contests begin at 5:30 p.m. for all ages. The base library will host a Halloween Craft and Story Time on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 3:45 p.m., in the Library Conference Room. All school-age children are invited to attend. 

Children from the Child Development Center will form a Pumpkin Parade Halloween morning and visit Tinker Federal Credit Union, the Bowling Center and other locations to be determined. The parade will include singing songs at visited locations and collecting of appropriate treats. 

Information, Tickets and Travel is offering tickets to Fright Fest at Frontier City. Tickets are $11 each. Fright Fest runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. For more information visit the ITT office or call 213-7215. 

The 71st Operations Group will be full of ghosts and goblins Halloween afternoon when the flying squadrons will be decorated and bowls of goodies will be available, beginning at 4 p.m. Contact your squadron for details. 

Vance's friends and neighbors outside the gate are offering a number of opportunities for safe Halloween activities. 

Trick-or-treating will begin at the Oakwood Mall at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31. Stores throughout the Mall will be handing out goodies to costumed creatures. The Mall is located at 4125 West Owen K. Garriott Road in Enid. For more information, call 237-9339. 

Oakwood Christian Church is hosting their annual Festival of Lights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Oct. 31. The festival is free, open to the public, and includes candy, food, games and costumes are encouraged. The church is located at 401 N Oakwood Road in Enid. For more information call 233-1225. 

Emmanuel Baptist Church is holding Trunk-or-treat in the church parking lot from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31. Decorated cars will have candy in the trunk for children to collect. Costumes are encouraged and the public is invited. The church is located at 2505 West Owen K. Garriott Road in Enid. For more information, call 237-0602. 

First Assembly of God is holding Trunk-or-treat Saturday, Oct. 25, from 6-8 p.m. Decorated cars will have candy in the trunk for children to collect. The event is open to the public and costumes are encouraged. The church is located at 905 N Oakwood Road in Enid. For more information, call 233-1742.
