Vance water safe to drink Published June 18, 2008 By Capt. Timothy A. Brathwaite Chief, Bioenvironmental Engineering Element VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The annual Consumer Confidence Report on the quality of tap water for Vance AFB is complete. Vance's drinking water is well within all federal and state mandated standards and is safe to drink. The report helps base consumers understand the quality of water received by Vance from the Enid water system during 2007. It includes information about the source of Vance's water, its make up, and the potential health risks, if any, associated with contaminants. Under the "Consumer Confidence Reporting Rule" of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, community water systems are required to report water quality information to the public. A copy of the report is available here or by contacting the Bioenvironmental Engineering office at 320 Young Road, Bldg. 247, Suite 124, Vance AFB, OK 73705. Call 213-7241 for more information. Bioenvironmental Engineering routinely monitors water purchased from the City of Enid. The Enid water system uses groundwater aquifers and several water wells. Water supplies are mixed, treated and monitored prior to use by Enid and Vance.
