The Military Equal Opportunity and Equal Employment Opportunity offices recently merged, prompting a name change and bringing an increased scope and new responsibilities to the combined program.

The merger was proposed during a recent Air Force Smart Operations 21 event that led to the joining of the offices March 1. Together the two programs form the Equal Opportunity office.

Gen. Roger Brady, former Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff of Personnel, said about the merger, "The new EO Program integrates the civilian equal employment opportunity and military equal opportunity workforce to create synergies that will come with having a highly-trained multidisciplinary workforce."

Uniting the two offices is Phase I of a three-phase process designed to position the Air Force EO Program for the 21st century. Air Force wide, cross training of MEO and EEO professionals has begun and will continue until a new, fully-integrated EO workforce is established. The Vance EO team is now 100 percent trained and ready.

Throughout this transition, customer service remains a top priority. EO personnel will continue to provide regular services to include briefings at the First Term Airmen Center, commander's calls and newcomers, as well as providing unit climate assessments and team building sessions for units to improve peer relations all with the goal of making a more cohesive work environment.

The EO office is located in Bldg 500, Suite 103. For more information, call 213-7328.
