The Vance AFB 2007 Combined Federal Campaign closed with a flurry Nov. 23, and record levels of generosity were seen at the base.

For the first time in the base's verifiable history, Team Vance raised more than $100,000. The six-week campaign raised a final total of $100,720.

For Col. Richard Klumpp Jr., 71st Flying Training Wing commander, the donations made far exceeded his expectations.

"Last year, we raised more than $86,000, and I thought that was probably the ceiling for what we would raise here. When we set this year's goal at $75,000, I was hoping we would raise another $86,000," the colonel said. "I never imagined that we would break $100,000. That just speaks to the great job the key workers and unit representatives did and to the generosity of individual Team Vance members."

Capt. Joe Shamess, CFC project officer, echoed the wing commander's statements.

"Team Vance collected more than $14,000 over 2006's total," Captain Shamess said. "Everyone did a great job. We continue to raise the bar at Vance and this year we set a new high for dollars raised and participating donors."

Last year, 26 percent of Team Vance contributed $86,710.35, which was a 26 percent increase over 2005's dollars raised total. This year, more than 37 percent of the base made donations.

"We started strong and finished strong," Captain Shamess said. "I could not be happier with how this year's campaign turned out. I thank everyone for their generous contributions. Every dollar counts toward making a difference in someone's life."

The CFC is the largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, raising millions of dollars each year for organizations worldwide that feed the hungry, shelter the exposed, comfort the dying, heal the sick, contribute to research, honor military members and veterans and provide hope and support to others in need.
