A master sergeant who operated a vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol received a reduction to technical sergeant and a reprimand. An airman first class who failed to obey a lawful order received a suspended reduction to airman, suspended forfeitures of $729 pay for two months and a reprimand. A technical sergeant who assaulted his spouse received a suspended reduction to staff sergeant, forfeitures of $1,315 pay for two months, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand. A senior airman who was drunk and incapacitated for the performance of duties received a reduction to airman first class, suspended forfeitures of $864 pay for two months, restriction to base for 60 days and a reprimand. A staff sergeant who made a false official statement and misused a Government Travel Card received a reduction to senior airman, restriction to base for 60 days, suspended forfeitures of $989 pay for two months and a reprimand. A senior airman who stole money by using someone else's credit card received a reduction to airman basic. An Article 15, also known as nonjudicial punishment, is a disciplinary measure normally used to promote positive behavioral changes in service members without the stigma of a court-martial and federal conviction. Action under Article 15 can be based on a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice or violations of state or federal laws. Punishment under Article 15 can affect promotions, assignments and re-enlistment opportunities.
