For some servicemembers, being away from loved ones can be hard to swallow -- that's why Operation Cookie Cutter gives deployed members a little taste of home by sending homemade treats downrange.

"We've sent cookies to deployed members for 13 years now," said Terri Presa, 71st Mission Support Squadron Community Readiness consultant. "Our deployed members make a sacrifice for our country, so this is a great way to say thank you to them."

The program sent more than 25 care packages including gum, candy, beef jerky and homemade cookies to Team Vance members across the globe.

"We included letters from the wing commander and Eisenhower Elementary School students in the packages to convey how much they are missed and appreciated," she said. "We even send cookies to loved ones in other military branches as well."

Volunteers are needed to donate homemade cookies and pack boxes. People can also donate potato chip canisters to send cookies in.

"We will put together the care packages from 8 a.m. to noon, Nov. 1 at the Airman & Family Readiness Center in Bldg. 314," she said. "We would appreciate any help we can get on the project. It's just one way we can thank those who are downrange defending our country.'
