Team Vance members challenged to fill D-HAT

The holiday season is not that far off and the base First Sergeants Council is getting ready. This year, like last, they will be raising funds for Team Vance Airmen with Operation PASS-D-HAT.

PASS-D-HAT helps both the Vance Airmen's Assistance Fund and Operation Warmheart The Vance Airmen's Assistance Fund is a year-long program to help Airmen deal with things like broken water heaters, broken washing machine or travel money during family emergencies. Operation Warmheart is designed to assist struggling young Air Force families during the holiday season. Gift certificates or checks to the Commissary are given to Airmen who are nominated by their supervisor.

Any office, class or work center may participate in raising funds for the Vance Airmen's Assistance Fund and Operation Warmheart. The office or class raising the most money will win a pizza party- includes 10 pizza and 8 bottles of soda, delivered to your office, class or work center at noon Oct. 5 - from the first sergeants. The winner will be announced on Oct 1.

The fundraiser is underway now through Sept. 28 with the first total pledges (no money due) due Friday. Starting Sept. 24, totals will be announced at noon daily to encourage some friendly competition. All money must be turned in to unit first sergeant by 2 p.m., Sept. 28. All donations received go directly to the Vance Airmen's Assistance Fund and Operation Warmheart.

If you think your group can grab the top hat as best PASS-D-HATters on base, e-mail Master Sgt. Joe Lawley, 71st Operations Group first sergeant , joe.lawley@vance.af.mil , to get started.

Even if you don't grab the title of top hat passer, there's no reason to be a mad hatter, you'll be proud knowing you helped your fellow Air Force members throughout the year.
