MPF aims at faster DEERS

The military personnel flight customer service section here implemented a new appointment system to lessen waiting time for its customers.

Customers requiring Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System updates and ID card services will now be seen by appointment. The new system change is being made to reduce the time required to update DEERS and/or identification cards information.
Appointments will be scheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesdays. Walk in hours will be noon to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays only. Appointments may be scheduled by calling call 213-7500 or DSN 448-7500.

Newcomers in-processing at Vance will continue to be scheduled between 8 to 10 a.m. Individuals requiring all other services can schedule appointments between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All other MPF services, such as career enhancements, relocations and will remain open on a walk-in basis..

"We do our best to provide quality service to all our customers and having an appointment system will alleviate the lengthy wait times our customers have experienced with DEERS services in the past," said Tech. Sgt. Kelli Widner, NCO in charge of military personnel flight customer support. "If DEERS customers walk in without an appointment, we will do our best to accommodate them, but they may experience lengthy wait times because customers with appointments will be given priority."

People who can't make their scheduled appointment must contact MPF customer service, at 213-7500 or DSN 448-7500, 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule. Military members who miss scheduled appointments will have no-show letters sent to their squadron commanders.

An on-line appointment system is being developed in the future to make appointments more convenient for patrons as well, Sergeant Widner said.
