Three Team Vance members were honored at the 2007 Public Service Recognition Awards luncheon Monday hosted by the Oklahoma Federal Executive Board in Oklahoma City. The event recognized 78 nominees from various Department of Defense and other federal agencies across the state competing in 14 categories.

Senior Master Sgt. Nolen Moore Jr., 71st Mission Support Squadron superintendent, was named winner in the DOD supervisory category. His nomination package cited accomplishments such as his selection as wing senior NCO of the Quarter for April through June 2006 and leading the military personnel flight to top Air Force and command level rankings for perfect discharge documentation processing and readiness rates. He oversaw more than 2,000 relocation actions and 1,080 student assignments and temporary duties for military personnel and their families, ensuring the Air Force's newly trained pilots arrived qualified and on time to their first duty stations. Sergeant Moore also demonstrated a selfless commitment to the community by volunteering for Vance Top 3, Airman of the Month board, PTA, and squadron booster club.

Tech Sgt. Bobbie White, 71st MSS readiness NCO, was recognized for her nomination in the Outstanding Community Service category. According to her nomination, Sergeant White provided unparalleled services to deployed service members and their families during a period of increased base deployments. Her leadership and organizational skills increased the number of programs offered through the readiness program, most notably the first-ever Operation KIDS, a program designed to inform children of deployed family members what their parents or relatives experience in a deployed environment.

Mary Loveless, 71st Communications Squadron telecommunications specialist, was recognized in the DOD technical, professional, administrative, GS-9 and above category. As the base's lead project manager for over 96 communication systems projects valued at over $76 million, Mrs. Loveless has provided keen oversight of communications connectivity for multiple customers base wide. Her efforts were lauded as "best support seen to date" by the program office as she spearheaded the planning of a $9.5 million Digital Airport Surveillance Radar and DOD Advanced Automation System.

Public Service Recognition Week has been set aside the first Monday through Sunday in May each year since 1985 to honor the men and women who serve America as federal, state and local government employees. Throughout the nation and around the world, public employees use the week to educate citizens about the many ways in which government serves the people and how government services make life better for all of us.
