Staff Sgt. Heidi Noll is no stranger to hard work - in fact, "Git R Dun" is her favorite personal motto. Her efforts paid off in her earning the 71st Flying Training Wing NCO of the Fourth Quarter 2006, Vance Commander's Support Staff NCO Manager of the Year, her selection to attend the Airman Scholarship and Commissioning Program and her selection as the Vance Warrior of the Month.
As the 71st Operations Group support program NCO in charge, Sergeant Noll supported more than 750 service members within six squadrons. She performed various duties that included in- and out-processing, tracking officer and enlisted performance reports and providing orders for students and permanent-party members.
Although she accomplished a lot last year, she is mostly proud of, "the fact our office remained operational despite all the technology changes that occurred in the personnel career field throughout the year," said the 8-year staff sergeant. "Every time there was a change, we somehow found a way to overcome the difficulty and complete the mission."
Sergeant Noll worked hard on and off duty. She is currently pursuing a nursing degree at Troy State University.
"My boss was a physician's assistant when I was an Airman," Sergeant Noll said. "She always said I would be great in the medical career field."
After watching the movie, "Pearl Harbor," she saw how nurses saved lives and helped heal those who were emotionally wounded.
"I thought to myself, 'I can do that!' I have an outgoing personality, and I love people," said the Golva, N.D., native. "It's amazing what you can learn from other people."
When she's not on the job or working on her degree, you can find Sergeant Noll camping or hiking.
"My ideal camping spot is in Colorado right by a stream," she said. "I was able to go fishing, hiking and four-wheeling all in one spot."
She works a hundred miles an hour, so go figure her favorite pastime is watching NASCAR races.
"I love NASCAR, especially No. 8, Dale Earnhart Jr.," she said. "I guess you could say it's one of my hobbies."
Sergeant Noll enjoys her Air Force career because of the "family mentality" of the service. "I love how Air Force people take care of each other," she said. "When I was in the Air National Guard for four months, I felt that something was missing. Being an active-duty member is different, because people know you and they become your family. I have met some outstanding people because of the Air Force."
