Vance names award winners for 2006 Published Feb. 2, 2007 VANCE AFB, Okla -- Vance Air Force Base recognized its outstanding performers for 2006 during the 27th Annual Awards Banquet Saturday night at the Vance Club. Col. Richard Klumpp, Jr., 71st Flying Training Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Jim Suttles, 71st FTW command chief, presented the winners with their awards before a capacity crowd. "This is an extremely talented group of annual award winners. Team Vance has outstanding personnel in every organization and, to win an annual award, you generally have to beat out folks who have won Air Education and Training Command and Air Force level awards for their functional area," Colonel Klumpp said. "These winners are truly the best of the best. It's great to have them leading the way to make the 71st Flying Training Wing AETC's premier organization." Senior Airman Robert Belus of 71st Comptroller Squadron was named Airman of the Year. Non-commissioned Officer of the Year was Master Sgt. J. David McClelland Jr., of 71st Mission Support Group. Senior Master Sgt. Daniel Olson of 71st Operations Group was named Senior NCO of the Year. The Company Grade Officer of the Year award went to 1st Lt. Kevin Summers of 71st Security Forces Squadron. Holly Eckstein was named Civilian GS-8 and Below of the Year, while Christopher Keenan earned Civilian GS-9 and Above of the year honors. Senior Airman Omar Robinson of 71st Medical Operations Squadron was named Honor Guard Member of the Year, while Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year honors went to Tech. Sgt. Minda Gates of 71st Medical Operations Squadron. Master Sgt. Joseph Davis of 71st Medical Group earned First Sergeant of the Year honors. Roger Tingley of 71st Flying Training Wing was selected Quality Assurance Personnel of the Year. Capt. Philip McClure of 33rd Flying Training Squadron was named Instructor Pilot of the Year, while Additional Duty First Sergeant of the Year is Master Sgt. J. Lee Phillips of 71st Mission Support Squadron.
