Security forces squadron leadership changes hands

Command of the 71st Security Forces Squadron changed hands Thursday during a ceremony in the Vance Club.
Capt Robert Rossi assumed command of the 71st SFS from Maj Mary McCaghren.
Captain Rossi comes from Scott Air Force Base, Ill., where he was the antiterrorism program manager for Headquarters Air Mobility Command.
Major McCaghren retires in a ceremony at
10 a.m. today at the base flagpole. After retirement, "I plan to ride my Harley," she said.
"I am extremely proud to be a member of Team Vance and I look forward to working with the men and women of the 71st Flying Training Wing," Captain Rossi said. "I am also honored to take command of such a great squadron and excited to continue the tradition of success set by Major McCaghren."
Captain Rossi entered the Air Force in 1995 as a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy.
Some of Captain Rossi's assignments include back-to-back Air Combat Command and Air Mobility Command security forces positions at Pope AFB, N.C. from August 1995 to July 1997. He also served at Kunsan Air Base, Korea, for a year, was a student at the Air Force Institute of Technology from July 1998 to December 1999 and was the security forces operations officer at Maxwell AFB, Ala. for two years.
Captain Rossi's awards include the 2000 Air Education and Training Command Security Forces Company Grade Officer of the Year, the 2000 Maxwell AFB and Gunter Annex Company Grade Officer of the Year, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
