Base AFAF finishes ahead Published Jan. 4, 2007 By SrA Amanda Mills Public Affairs Vance Air Force Base, Okla. -- Vance Air Force Base closed its month-long drive to raise Air Force Assistance Fund funds April 9. "I would like to thank everyone at Team Vance for another successful AFAF campaign," said 1st Lt Matthew Laski, project officer. "This year, we raised more than $26,600 for the LeMay Foundation, Air Force Aid Society, Air Force Village and Air Force Enlisted Village," Lieutenant Laski said. "That was 139 percent of our goal amount. The time put in contacting people by the campaign workers and Team Vance's generosity demonstrates people's support of these four charities, which give Airmen an opportunity to help Airmen." AFAF raises money for four charitable organizations benefiting active-duty, Reserve, Guard and retired Air Force people and their families, including surviving spouses and their families. The organizations are: The Air Force Aid Society -- The official charity of the Air Force, this program helps eligible active-duty and retired Air Force members with financial emergencies. The Air Force Enlisted Foundation -- The villages are near Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The home foundations provide widows of retired enlisted people with housing facilities and related services. The Air Force Village Foundation, Inc. -- The village, located in San Antonio, is a life-care community for retired officers, spouses, widows and family members. The fund contributes to the support of indigent widows. The General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation -- This foundation was established in 1990 to provide direct support to indigent officers' widows in need of financial assistance.
