Team Vance CFC reaches midpoint Published Dec. 5, 2006 By Staff Sgt. Amanda Mills Public Affairs Vance Air Force Base, Okla. -- Time to donate to the Combined Federal Campaign reaches its final two weeks at Vance Air Force Base today. Team Vance federal employees and servicemembers still have until Nov. 18 to contribute. "The CFC is a convenient way to help those who you feel need it most, and support the causes you value," said Col. Bryan Benson, 71st Flying Training Wing commander, in a letter to the base. "Through the CFC, our donations can provide a large return on investment." The campaign has gone fairly well, according to Capt. Christopher McAlear, 71st FTW project officer. "Everyone who has donated has been extremely generous, so I thank them very much for that," he said. He also said people interested in donating still have time to do so, and he thanked other squadron project officers for spreading the word. "We're hoping for a strong finish," the captain said. A new feature makes donating to the campaign easier this year. People can visit the 2005 CFC link on the Vance Web site for the CFC home page, 2003 results and more. The most helpful link is the "Central OK CFC Page," Captain McAlear said. "This link has the list of the charities people can donate to, and people can search it if they're looking for a particular type of organization, making choosing their charities easier than ever." The CFC was established in 1961 and is the largest workplace charity campaign in the country. "To be eligible to receive donations through CFC, each organization must follow generally-accepted accounting practices, and be independently audited annually," Colonel Benson said. "This accountability ensures fiscal responsibility with our donations." The annual campaign allows nearly four million people to contribute to thousands of local and national nonprofit organizations. People can donate to the CFC by cash, check or payroll deduction. To donate, call one of the Vance project officers listed on the main page of the Vance Web site's 2005 CFC link.
