71st MDG inspection garners high marks Published Nov. 29, 2006 By Senior Airman Lynne Neveu Public Affairs Vance Air Force Base, Okla. -- The 71st Medical Group earned an "Excellent" rating during its Health Services Inspection May 16 to 20. Additionally, the group earned accreditation through the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations during a separate inspection done the same week. "The inspection results demonstrate to the Vance community they can be confident in the healthcare they are receiving," said Capt. Judy Webb-Hapgood, 71st Medical Support Squadron deputy commander. The dental clinic earned a perfect score and an "Outstanding" rating during the HSI phase of the evaluation, a feat the inspectors had not seen in the past four years, said Lt. Col. Craig Christenson, 71st MDG deputy commander. Captain Webb-Hapgood said the dual inspection is a true picture of the day-to-day procedures and standards followed throughout the group, rather than how well they prepare for an inspection, since they had only a 30-day notice. An "Outstanding" rating was also earned by deployment processing, epidemiology and public health surveillance, population health and business management. Three "Outstanding performers" were recognized by the HSI team: Staff Sgt. Susan Moore, medical readiness inprocessing; Tech. Sgt. Minda Gates, dental logistics; and Tech. Sgt. Karen Horvath, public health. "The success of the inspection came down to one thing - our people," said Captain Webb-Hapgood. "We have an incredible team of professionals here, and the inspection results demonstrate that."
