Wing command changes hands

Team Vance will welcome a new commander Feb. 2.
Gen Donald Cook, commander of Air Education and Training Command, selected Col Bryan Benson to take over as the 71st Flying Training Wing commander for Col Michael Callan.
Colonel Benson is coming to Vance Air Force Base from Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom, where he is currently the commander of the 100th Operations Group. He is a command pilot with more than 3,400 flying hours in the T-37, T-38, C-141B and KC-135R/T aircraft including combat and combat support missions in Operation Desert Storm, Decisive Endeavor, Northern Watch and Deliberate Forge.
Colonel Benson was a 1983 distinguished graduate of the Parks College of Saint Louis University, Mo., Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program with a Bachelor of Science of Aeronautics. He attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance AFB.
Colonel Benson has served at Charleston AFB, S.C.; Nellis AFB, Nev.; Scott AFB, Ill.; Robins AFB, Ga.; National War College, Washington, D.C.; and the Pentagon.
Colonel Callan will be going to the Pentagon, Washington D.C., where he will serve as the assistant deputy director for Special Operations, J-3, Joint Chiefs of Staff.
