MDG trains stretcher bearers Published Aug. 25, 2015 71st FTW Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- 71st Medical Group Airmen conducted medical readiness training Aug. 13. Every month, members of the 71st MDG train on skills and tasks specific to their Air Force Specialty Codes and their roles within the 71st Flying Training Wing Medical Contingency Response Plan, said Lt. Col. Kimberly Boswell-Yarbrough, the Patient Support and Casualty Management Team chief. Her team's role is to provide care to all causalities based on their triage category: immediate, delayed or minimal. There are 17 teams within the MDG, and they fill jobs ranging from field response and patient decontamination to patient treatment and triage. MDG Airmen are assigned to MCRP teams, and team chiefs are responsible for developing an annual training schedule, ensuring teams are adequately staffed and conducting training safely.
