71st OSS gets new commander Published June 9, 2015 By Tech. Sgt. James Bolinger 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Lt. Col. Michael Drost assumed command of the 71st Operations Support Squadron from Lt. Col. David Woodley during a ceremony June 4 at the Armed Forces Reserve Center. Before assuming command of the Ghostriders, Drost was the 71st OSS director of operations, the 71st Flying Training Wing chief of safety and a T-38 Talon instructor pilot. Drost is a command pilot with more than 2,600 hours in the F-16 Fighting Falcon, T-38A and T-38C. He holds master's degreeĀ in business administration from Oklahoma State University and a bachelor's degreeĀ of science in management from the Air Force Academy. His decorations include: a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal with one device and an Air Medal with two devices.
