Fifteen Team Vance members were presented college scholarships totaling $16,000 by the Officers' Spouses' Club during a dinner at the Vance Collocated Club, May 12.

Eight spouses and seven high school seniors received $500 to $2,000 to pursue a higher education.

"I decided to become more involved in the OSC last year when I won a scholarship," said Elena Gartland, acting president of the OSC at Vance. "That scholarship allowed me to start my master's, something which I had been trying to do for four years.

"I personally saw how the OSC helps to change lives and all the great things they do for Vance and the community," she said. "It is a great feeling to see that our hard work allows for worthy recipients to further their own education. We hope that these scholarships help our military dependents achieve their lifelong goals."

The recipients are:

Courtney Williams -- $500
Chelsey Krussow -- $500
Nicole Hausmann -- $1,500
Michelle Parker -- $ 500
Annabelle Moore - $1,000
Kelly Baxter -- $1,000
Carolyn Mullan -- $2,000
Kaysie Walter -- $2,000
Emily Perry -- $500
Landry Castillo -- $500
Brock Chance -- $1,000
Jonathan Volpe -- $1,000
Jessica Cinnamon -- $1,500
Andrew Tonnell -- $1,500

"I couldn't be more thankful for the OSC scholarship," said Carolyn Mullan, a $2,000 scholarship recipient. "It truly helps in allowing me to complete my final two semesters at Oklahoma State University. My focus is in Curriculum Studies, and earning a master's degree in this field will give me the opportunity to further my career in education, providing meaningful and quality learning experiences for students."

OSC members raised the money for scholarships, which are awarded annually, through various fundraisers throughout the year.

Funds are raised through the OSC Silent Auction, which brought in nearly $8,500 dollars, sales of crafts at the Holiday Marketplace, which netted more than $6,600, and sales from the Vance Thrift Shop, which earned nearly $3,700.

The 50 members of the OSC also work to donate money to local charities in Enid.

In the last year, the OSC has donated $1,200 to eight Enid charities.
