Chapter 990 of the Air Force Sergeants Association is hosting its second Vance Masquerade Ball, scheduled for Jan. 17 at the Vance Collocated Club.

This year's theme is Mardi Gras, and AFSA representatives are estimating between 100 and 150 people will attend.

"I loved it last year," said Airman 1st Class Destiny Mitchell, a 71st Comptroller Squadron financial technician. "The music was good, the food was good and the atmosphere was fun and relaxed. It didn't feel like I was even on base."

Dance classes are available this year, following last year's plan.

"I think the dance classes really helped," said Mitchell. "I think they enhanced people's enthusiasm because more people knew how to do the dances that went along with the music. I think it's something we should do every year."

There are two dance classes remaining. Country two-step and line dancing will be Jan. 12, and a hip-hop line dance class will be Jan. 13 at the Armed Forces Reserve Center starting at 6 p.m.

The last day to purchase tickets is Jan. 9. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from group points of contact.

The Wing POCs are:

Wing Staff Agencies - 2nd Lt. Isabel Crump

71st Medical Group - Staff Sgt. Ruby Ankner

71st Mission Support Group - Staff Sgt. Tynisia Hains

71st Operations Group - Master Sgt. Chad Quin

71st Student Squadron - 2nd Lt. Stephanie Fabian

The masquerade ball is scheduled from 7 p.m. to midnight.  The evening will be Mardi Gras civilian attire, to include a mask. Proceeds will benefit the 2015 Annual Awards Banquet.
