Most Team Vance Airmen will receive a steep increase in their basic housing allowance for 2015.

Even with new policy the Department of Defense will use to calculate BAH rates, Airmen here will see an average increase of $52.

There have been two changes to the way the DOD calculates military housing compensation benefits. Housing officials removed a fraction of a percent that was intended to cover renters insurance, and Congress authorized an annual defense spending bill Dec. 12 that will pay members for 99 percent of the cost for housing. The remaining one percent will be paid out of pocket.

Two measures were implemented to cut the cost of military compensation.

Despite this, the average BAH rate for the Air Force will increase $17 a month.

At Vance, the highest increase was for E-6s and O-2s with dependents who will see an increase of $114. Several ranks, including O-6s and O-5s with dependents will see a decrease of $36, although the decrease only affects incoming personnel.
