Representatives from the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Department picked up 102 computers from Vance Dec. 11.

"We've been trying to get some new computers for some time now," said Capt. David Baisden, who is in charge of support services for OCS.  "These are a godsend. We will be using most of them for training programs. The rest will be used to upgrade our old Windows XP software."

Baisden made claim to the computers through the Defense Logistics Agency program.
DLA allows for any state, school or federal agency to take surplus supplies for a five percent service fee.

The sheriff's department paid $3,003.90 for the computers.

"We will use about 40 of these computers to train our officers to use mobile data systems," said Baisden. "This system basically turns patrol officers into mobile offices."
