Children from Eisenhower Elementary School kicked off the Vance Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner Dec. 5 in front of the T-38 static display on base.

This ceremony is an annual event led by the 71st Flying Training Wing Chapel staff.

During the ceremony, Col. Clark Quinn, the 71st FTW commander, and Erik Lewis Jr., a student at Eisenhower, flipped the switch to turn on the Christmas Tree lights.

More than 150 people attended, including 50 children who performed Christmas songs directed by Lauren Griffin, an Eisenhower Elementary School teacher.

Guests enjoyed sweet treats provided by the base chaplains.
