Is it already time to start thinking about income taxes? Not quite, but as we approach the end of the calendar year, it is time to start preparing for the upcoming tax season.

In that regard and on behalf of the base, the legal office is asking for your assistance in requesting volunteers to become Volunteer Income Tax Assistance representatives to assist Vance Airmen this coming tax season.

Those who volunteer should be available to attend training. This training will be conducted in November and we will schedule a firm date with the IRS once we have the number of new volunteers and returning volunteers.

The training will be provided by the IRS and Oklahoma Tax Commission.

Volunteers will provide basic income tax assistance to Team Vance members and assist with electronic filing. To facilitate our planning for the training course, we would appreciate receiving the names of interested VITA volunteers by Oct. 31.

This year, Airman 1st Class Shafiyquca Gause will act as the base point of contact for this program.

Those who wish to volunteer can contact Gause directly at 213-7404 or at shafiyquca.gause@us.af.mil.

The more volunteers we get from across the base, the less time each individual volunteer will need to devote to this project.
