Team Vance to march in Cherokee Strip Celebration Parade Published Sept. 12, 2014 By 2nd Lt Tho Dang 71st FlyingTraining Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- A flight consisting of more than 40 Team Vance Airmen is scheduled to march in the annual Cherokee Strip Celebration Parade in downtown Enid Sept. 13 at 10:30 a.m. The annual Cherokee Strip Celebration marks the Land Run of 1893 and Enid's birth. The celebration begins Friday and continues through Sunday. Vance Air Force base will be well represented during the celebration. In addition to a marching flight, Col. John Cinnamon, the 71st Operations Group commander, will be the parade's grand marshal and a color guard team from the Vance Silver Talon Honor Guard will lead parade. The parade will consist of some exciting features such as, antique tractors, vintage cars from the Corvette Club, a horse buggy, a trick roper, a Shriner, the Cherokee Strip queen, the Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Teen, other dignitaries and various community organization floats. There will also be six marching bands from various high schools in around the area. The parade will start at South Grand Street and East Maine Avenue, and will travel north on South Grand Street and south onto Independence Street.
