Two Vance Airmen receive Articles 15 Published Aug. 13, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Graham Davis 71st Flying Training Wing Staff Judge Advocate Office VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Two military members assigned here received Articles 15 non-judicial punishment during the second quarter of 2014. An Article 15 is a disciplinary measure used to promote positive behavioral changes in servicemembers without the stigma of a court-martial. An Article 15 can be given for violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice or violations of state or federal laws. Punishment by Article 15 can affect promotions, assignments and re¬enlistment opportunities. A senior airman was given an Article 15 for wrongfully using a controlled substance. The member received an Article 15 and an Under Honorable Conditions (General) Discharge. An Airman First Class was given an Article 15 for failing to appear to squadron physical training. The member received a suspended reduction to Airman, forfeitures of $400.00 pay per month for two months, 14 days of extra duty and a reprimand. Commanders tailor decisions on each punishment to the circumstances and seriousness of offenses committed, and the members past disciplinary history.
