Four Team Vance members took pies in the face to help raise $817.75 for the 2014 Air Force Assistance Fund campaign at Vance Air Force Base.

Capt. Ashley Swansiger, the Vance AFAF campaign organizer, received 280 votes at 25 cents each, and took the first pie in the face following the Wing Recognition Ceremony March 26 in the Vance Collocated Club.

The second in line for a pie was Capt. Kevin Stone from the 71st Student Squadron. He received 556 votes.

Col. James Abatti, the 71st Operations Group commander, with 1,727 votes, was third in line for a pie.

A surprise pie was auctioned off on the spot, and brought $100 and a pie in the face for Chief Master Sgt. Mark Aman, the 71st Flying Training Wing command chief master sergeant.

Proceeds from the pies took the total collected so far for Vance's 2014 AFAF campaign to $32,008, well past the $28,071 goal.

"People should remember this campaign is not about reaching a goal," said Swansiger. "This campaign is about helping the veterans that came before us and helping each other.

"The last day of the campaign is April 11," she said. "People can still donate until then."

Funds raised during the AFAF campaign go to the Air Force Aid Society, the Air Force Villages, the Air Force Enlisted Village and the Gen. and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation.
