Senior leaders attend AFAF campaign kickoff breakfast Published March 5, 2014 By 2nd Lt. Justin Nichols 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Vance commanders and first sergeants attended the 2014 Air Force Assistance Fund campaign kickoff breakfast held at 7:30 a.m., March 4, in the Community Chapel Activity Center. Col. John Menozzi, 71st Flying Training Wing vice commander, made the traditional commander's donation to the campaign during the breakfast. The campaign will run from March 3 to April 11. This year's donation goal is $28,071. A display at the Hairston Gate will track the campaign's progress. During the breakfast, two Team Vance members, 1st Lt. Kevin Slaughter and Tech. Sgt. Manuel Feliz, shared their personal stories of how AFAF impacted their lives. Slaughter is the Military Personnel Flight commander with the 71st Force Support Squadron, and Feliz is the Airfield Systems assistant NCO in charge with the 71st Communications Squadron. "AFAF is a really good opportunity for Vance personnel to take care of our own," said 2nd Lt. Kathrine Thompson, the breakfast organizer and operations officer with the 71st Communications Squadron.
