TACC commander guest speaker at Class 14-04 graduation Published Jan. 22, 2014 VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Maj. Gen. Timothy Zadalis was the guest speaker at the graduation of Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training Class 14-04, Jan. 17, at Vance Air Force Base. Twenty-three new Air Force pilots received their wings during the graduation ceremony. Zadalis, the commander of the 618th Air and Space Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center) at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., graduated pilot training at Vance AFB in March 1985. The 618th AOC (TACC) plans, schedules and directs a fleet of nearly 1,200 mobility aircraft in support of combat delivery and strategic airlift, air refueling and aeromedical evacuation operations for the Air Mobility Command. Zadalis also attended Class 14-04's graduation dinner Jan. 17 at the Oakwood Country Club. During his two-day visit, the general was the guest speaker at the monthly Order of Daedalians' dinner held at the Vance Collocated Club. The Order of Daedalians, founded in 1934 by World War I aviators, seeks to spread military history and perpetuate a spirit of patriotism. Zadalis, a command pilot with more than 4,400 flying hours, had the opportunity for a T-6A Texan II orientation flight with the 8th Flying Training Squadron. The T-6 is the first aircraft student pilots fly during their initial training at Vance AFB. He flew with 1st Lt. Graeme Ross, an instructor pilot with the 8th FTS.
