The retail area of the Vance Air Force Base gas station will close next week, but the gas pumps will continue operating for card holders only.

The Car Care Center, which closed last December, will reopen as an Exchange concession, contracted with Net Automotive, run by Anthony and Sonya Johnson, local residents of Enid.

Coming online the week of Oct. 28, the maintenance center will feature full automotive care, including tire and oil changes, wheel alignment and brake pad replacements.

Operating hours will be 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For those with busier schedules, there will be a key drop box that can be used any time of day.

"We made the changes hoping to increase convenience for the flyers at Vance AFB," said Angela Gray, AAFES Services Business Manager with the Tinker/Vance Exchanges.

The grand opening will be Nov. 4.

The fuel pumps in front of the station will continue to provide pay-at-the-pump service 24/7, with credit, debit and military Star cards only.

The fuel sold on-base is now 10 percent Ethanol because of a federal mandate applying to all Air Force bases.

The Base Exchange will continue to sell retail products previously available at the gas station.
