Senate Armed Services Committee staff delegation visits new control tower Published Aug. 7, 2013 71st Flying Training Wing Public Affairs VANCE AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Members of the Senate Armed Services Committee staff took a tour of the new air traffic control tower construction site during their visit to Vance Air Force Base Aug. 5. The five SADC staff members were hosted to lunch at the Woodring Regional Airport and received a 71st Flying Training Wing mission brief prior to the construction site tour. The SASC staff members were Anthony Lazarski, Bill Castle, Allen Edwards, Samantha Clark and Daniel Adams. They were escorted on their trip to Vance AFB by Maj. Ian Dinesen. Wing senior leadership accompanied the SASC staff on the control tower tour, followed by a visit to the 71st Operations Group to see T-38 Falcon simulators in action. Enid Mayor Bill Shewey and the Woodring Regional Airport director, Dan Ohnesorge, met the staff members during lunch at the airport. Mike Cooper, chairman of Oklahoma Military Strategic Planning Commission and City of Enid military liaison, accompanied the staff members on the control tower tour.
